A holistic approach

Therapy is taking a moment to step out of the role of ‘doing’ in order to just ‘be’ so to reflect on your current life, especially as it is informed by the past. Encouraging self-awareness and, in particular, self-acceptance, are ongoing goals that are the cornerstones of the work I do.

To learn more about the various modalities and approaches I may utilize, continue reading below.

  • CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

  • Gestalt focuses on the individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist–client relationship, the environmental and social contexts of a person's life, and the self-regulating adjustments people make as a result of their overall situation.

  • This modality utilizes dramatization, role playing, and dramatic self-presentation to investigate and gain insight into one’s life and relationships.

  • The techniques of modern psychoanalysis are aimed at allowing the ego to direct aggression outward in productive ways and at protecting a fragile ego against the self-attack seen in cases ranging from schizophrenia, depression, and somatization to neurotic forms of self-sabotage. This is accomplished by helping clients to ‘say everything’.

  • Developed by Dr. Stan Tatkin, PACT is a fusion of attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, and arousal regulation. PACT helps couples understand the underlying biological and psychological needs of the individual and the couplehood.

  • Involves one or more therapists working with several people at the same time.

Groups can be focused on targeting specific problems common among the group (e.g. substance abuse, anxiety, etc.) or are built around a common identity within the group (i.e. survivors, gender, etc.).

Group provides a natural support network compared to individual therapy.
